Welcome to Charles Dickens Lodge No 2757 – Freemasons in Essex
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. Through a progression of ceremonies, it encourages self-knowledge and self-improvement. Members are expected to be of high moral standing and are open, in fact actively encouranged, to speak about Freemasonry.
As an organisation, Freemasons are concerned with moral values and it’s members are taught its principles through a series of ritual dramas, which are learns by heart and performed within each Lodge, using stonemasones’ customs and tools and allegorical guides.
A moral and ethical approach to life is therefore instilled in its members: its values are based on kindness, honesty, integrity and fairness. Members are urged to regard their family of the highest priority but, importantly, Freemasonry also encourages concern for our fellow human being, those in need and the less fortunate.
Charles Dickens Lodge is a freemasons’ lodge in the Masonic Province of Essex. It is warranted under the United Grand Lodge of England, founded in 1899 and meets in the town of Loughton, Essex.
A small but growing Lodge, whose numbers have recently increased, would welcome additional new members who would have the opportunity for early progression and involvement in the Lodge.
Lodge meetings are held on the second Monday of January, the first Saturdays of April and June, the second Saturday in July, and the annual meeting to install the new Master, on the third Saturday in October.
